SCHOOL TOURS (Apr 15-Nov 15)
One of the main goals of the Geauga County Historical Society is not only to preserve history but to also educate the public. As many as 3,000 elementary school children pass through these gates on school tours every single year.
Each class that comes is greeted by their very own CVM Interpreter. Each interpreter is responsible for an entire class of students which can range up to as many as 30 children. The tour itself is approximately two hours long and not only includes in depth history on five specific buildings but also a historic craft. There are facilities available for lunch if a school would like to stay after the tour to eat.
The cost per student for this experience is $7.00, adult chaperones are $5.00 and all teachers and aides are free. We also offer a student gift bag which contains a pencil, a special postcard and some “penny” candy for $1.00/per bag. (Gift bags must be ordered in advance before the trip.) You may also let children visit our gift shop during their lunch period. (Store visits must be scheduled in advance before the trip.)
Teachers are welcome to call us any time of the year during business hours (10am to 4pm, Monday through Friday) to schedule a field trip.
GROUP TOURS (Apr 15-Nov 15)
We will also gladly schedule group tours during the week. (The group must contain at least ten participants to be able to make a week day reservation.) Tours are approximately 2 hours long and depending on the group interest, a variety of different houses may be toured. We encourage your group to bring a lunch and enjoy it here on the grounds and to save time for the Crossroads Museum Store!!
