Pioneer SchoolLocated in the heart of Amish Country, Century Village Museum is home to 22 historic buildings, livestock, 20,000 artifacts, farming, and over 200 years of history. Educational field trips for schools, groups, and scouts are scheduled throughout our open season. Our season is April 15th through November 15th. Tours start at 10am and last around two hours, depending on lunch arrangements. Indoor lunch seating and modern restrooms are available. All tours are led by a trained, costumed interpreter. Please call 440-834-1492 if you are interested in scheduling a tour!
 
Artisan Package Tour:  Learn about arts and crafts in the 1800s with a detailed tour through the artisan buildings at Century Village Museum.  Visit our Victorian dressmaker’s shop to see hand-sewing examples, try your hand at tin punching in our Tin Shop, learn how to make a broom in our Red Barn, and see a sheep-to-shawl demonstration on our floor loom in a Greek Revival home.  At the end of the tour, take your pin weaving and tin punching home with you to show off!  This tour must be booked two months in advance.  Cost $10 per student, $5 per chaperone. Limited to 30 students.
 
Farm-to-Table Package Tour:  Learn about daily life in an 1800s farming community with a detailed tour and hands-on culinary experiences at Century Village Museum.  Tour our Cook House to learn about butter churning and women’s chores, then step outside to the apothecary gardens and animal pens to learn about farm life outside the home.  Afterwards, you will visit the Blacksmith Shop, Engine Shed, and Dairy Barn to learn about farming and industry in the 1800s.  At the end of the tour, you will be able to take home handmade jam that each child made that day!  This tour must be booked two months in advance.  Cost $10 per student, $5 per chaperone.
 
Economics Package Tour:  Learn about early industries in the 1800s in this program designed to meet 4th and 5th grade Ohio Academic Standards.  Head over to our Depot to talk about early commerce and rail industry, then check out our Victorian dressmaker’s shop to learn how women handled their own commerce.  You will also visit our Tin Shop to learn about specialized labor and industry, and will visit our Dairy Barn to learn about 1800s farming.  At the end of the tour, each child will take home their own handmade rope that describes the process of early American industry.  Cost $8 per student, $5 per chaperone.

General Package Tour:  Learn about life in the 1800s through a tour of six of our historic buildings.  Visit our one-room schoolhouse, 1800s general store, try your hand at a human yoke, view life through a stereopticon in one of our Victorian homes, and make your own wooden yo-yo to take home with you.  Cost $6 per student, $5 per chaperone.

Math and Science Package Tour:  Learn about 1800s medicine, science, and math through a detailed tour of four of our historic buildings.  Visit our one-room schoolhouse to learn about the planets as they were viewed in the 1800s and perform basic math on an abacus, go to our 1800s general store to learn about bartering and historic money, visit Dr. Corey’s office to take care of your bumps, bruises, and broken bones 1800s-style, and take a look at our botanical research documents in our Shanower library.  At the end of your day, you will take home your own botanical page that you have researched and gathered from our property.  This tour must be booked two months in advance.  Cost $8 per student, $5 per chaperone.
