Maple Sugaring & America 250

Did you know that Ohio Native Americans and early Geauga County pioneers were tapping sugar maple trees and making sweet maple syrup as far back as the 1800s? This rich tradition lives on today right here in Burton, where the first municipal maple house in the county was built in 1931.

This February, join us to experience the history, traditions, and flavors that helped shape our community. In celebration of America 250, we invite you to explore our unique exhibits and learn how these local industries contributed to the nation’s story.

Event Highlights:

• Ohio’s Only Maple Museum: Tour the only museum in the state dedicated entirely to the history of maple sugaring.
• America 250 Exhibit Tours: Engage with special exhibits commemorating 250 years of American history.
• Historic Grist Mill: Visit our authentic mill and see early engineering in action.
• Dairy & Cheese History: Learn about the vital role dairy production played in the development of Geauga County.
